Laser Scanning - Buildings

Laser Scanning is the ideal method for collecting large amounts of data on buildings, especially in the case of complex or detailed buildings, or where a number of buildings are to be surveyed in high detail in one location. In effect the laser scanner measures the position of the building from numerous locations a typical laser scanned building survey will have several million measured data points.

One example is Clongowes Wood College, the architectural detail in the buildings is so detailed to survey it conventionally would have taken months. The detail is captured in a 3D point cloud, the items required to be drafted can be examined using Tru-view software and highlighted for the cad operator, all other detail in the point cloud can be kept for future investigation.

The second example is of a property which was scanned using the Leica HDS 6000. A panoramic view of the property is available using Tru-view software which can be downloaded from.
