Laser Scanning
is the most complete method of recording archaeological
finds as it is the only method of recording both
the visual image with geospatial qualities attached.
This allows measurements to be easily taken between
different points of reference accurately.
Coastway were recently
involved in the laser scan of an ancient passage
tomb which fell within the boundaries of a major
road project. The survey was successful in recording
the stone walls as 3 dimensional models. The passage
grave was moved outside the limits of the construction
and as an added benefit the 3 dimensional model
provided a complete record from which the feature
could be rebuilt.
